Dental Veneers Post-Op Instructions
Congratulations on your new dental veneers! Proper care is essential for ensuring your veneers last and maintain their beautiful appearance. Please follow these post-op instructions:
1. Immediate Sensitivity:
It is normal to experience mild sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures for a few days after receiving veneers. This is due to the bonding process and your enamel adjusting to the veneers. Use a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth to ease discomfort.
2. Chewing and Eating:
Avoid eating hard, sticky or chewy foods for at least 24 hours to allow the bonding agent to set fully. Be cautious with foods that could chip or dislodge the veneers, such as hard candy, ice or nuts.
3. Oral Hygiene:
Maintain excellent oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly. Use a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste to avoid scratching the veneer surface. Floss gently to protect the edges of your veneers.
4. Avoid Staining Substances:
While veneers resist staining, the natural teeth around them do not. Limit consumption of coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco products to maintain a consistent color across your smile.
5. Nighttime Protection:
If you grind your teeth or clench your jaw, wear a custom night guard to prevent damage to your veneers.
6. Regular Dental Visits:
Schedule regular checkups and cleanings to ensure your veneers and overall oral health remain in excellent condition. Let our dentist know about your veneers during these visits.
7. Monitor Changes:
If you notice any sharp edges, discomfort or looseness, contact your dentist immediately. Prompt attention can prevent further complications.
By following these guidelines, your veneers can stay durable and stunning for many years. If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to contact our office.
